Rizz Pickup Lines: 24 Lines and When They Work
Rizz pickup lines that actually land: 24 corny, cocky-funny and text lines, plus how to deliver them and turn a laugh into real conversation.

Rizz pickup lines are everywhere right now, and most of them fail for the same reason: guys treat the line as the whole play when it’s really just the first ten seconds of one. In seduction community terms, a pickup line is outer game, the tactical layer of openers, tonality and body language that sits on top of what’s going on inside you. Get that relationship right and a corny line can open almost anyone. Get it wrong and the smoothest line ever written dies in your mouth.
This piece gives you 24 lines sorted by the job they do. It also covers the delivery method, what her reaction means and how to turn a laugh into a real conversation. If you want a broader set of openers for cold approach, pair it with our guide to pickup lines for guys.
What Are Rizz Pickup Lines, and Do They Actually Work?
“Rizz” is current slang for charisma, specifically the ability to attract someone with how you talk. Rizz pickup lines are the short, flirty, often deliberately cheesy lines that pass around social media. They fall into three families:
- Corny lines: wordplay and puns (“Are you a museum? Because...”). They work only when you are visibly in on the joke.
- Cocky-funny lines: the community’s term for a mix of arrogance and humor that teases her without being cruel. These build attraction.
- Situational openers: lines that don’t sound like lines at all. They comment on the venue or ask her opinion, and they hook her into talking.
Do they work? As openers, yes. Nearly every school breaks an interaction into a fixed order: open, attract, build comfort, escalate, close. A line handles step one and nothing more. Rizz pickup lines fail when guys expect them to do the attraction, comfort and escalation as well. The line earns you a few seconds of attention. What you do with those seconds decides everything.
Ross Jeffries describes the opening phase as a sequence: interrupt her state, focus her attention on you, then lead where her thoughts go. A good line does the first two. Humor is the preferred tool for breaking her state because it’s fun, and shock tends to put her on guard.
Why the Man Matters More Than the Line
Here is the uncomfortable truth every serious teacher agrees on. Give a shy beginner the exact words an experienced guy uses and he gets no result. Tyler Durden of RSD built much of his teaching around this: a memorized system papered over a shaky inner core falls apart in the field. The community calls that inner core inner game, the beliefs, emotional state and self-image underneath your behavior.
Three inner game concepts decide whether rizz pickup lines land:
- Congruence: your words, tone and body say the same thing. If you deliver a cocky line in a shaky voice, she reads the voice and ignores the words.
- Outcome independence: you’re fine whether she laughs, groans or walks away. That’s what lets you deliver a ridiculous line with a straight face.
- Clarity of intent: Tyler describes guys who walk up with “the gas on” while another part of the brain slams the brakes. She feels that split instantly. You hesitate halfway through the line, and the hesitation is what she remembers.
Jeffries trains this with written “power attitudes” reviewed daily. His first one: “Being with me is the best possible choice that any woman could make.” It sounds arrogant on paper. He frames it as an antidote to women’s natural uncertainty, which you will run into whether or not you’re her type. Another of his frames is useful when a line bombs: you never get rejected, you only discover she has different taste.
How do you build this in practice? Vin DiCarlo’s advice is to start small. Get more talkative with everyone, from cashiers to waiters to bouncers, and stack small successes before you go after the hardest set in the room. Momentum turns into belief, and belief turns into delivery. If approaching itself is the sticking point, start with how to approach a woman without freezing.

24 Rizz Pickup Lines, Sorted by Job
Each group below does a different job. Choose one based on the setting and your natural energy, not on which line reads best on a screen.
Corny lines that wink at themselves (6)
Corny pickup lines work when the real message is “I know this is terrible, and I’m saying it anyway.” That message says you’re confident. The pun is irrelevant.
- “I have a pickup line ready, but I’m told it’s the worst one in the building. Want to hear it, or should I spare us both?”
- “Are you a museum? Because I’d stay until security asks me to leave.”
- “Do you have a map? I keep getting lost in... no, I can’t finish that one. Even I have standards.”
- “If you were a vegetable you’d be a cute-cumber. I’m sorry. I’ll see myself out.” (Don’t leave.)
- “On a scale of one to ten, how bad was that line? Be honest, I can take it.”
- “Rate my next line before I say it. I need to know what I’m working with.”
Calibration: If she groans and smiles, you’re in. Tease her for groaning and move on.
Cocky-funny lines (6)
Cocky-funny is the heart of attraction-phase banter. You playfully disqualify her or yourself, which is a form of push-pull (pulling her in, then pushing her away). It creates the tension a compliment never will.
- “You’ve got trouble written all over you. I’m going to need you to stand over there.”
- “You seem fun. Too fun, probably. I don’t think we’d get along.”
- “Careful, you’re smiling. People will think we’re friends.”
- “You look like you’d cheat at board games.”
- “Are you flirting with me? I’m flattered, but you’ll have to buy me dinner first.”
- “Cute. Shame about the drink order. Kidding. Mostly.”
Calibration: Line 12 is a light neg, a playful jab that lowers her status slightly. Use it only on a woman who is used to flattery, and stop once she shows interest. Our breakdown of negging versus teasing covers where the line falls.
Situational openers that don’t sound like lines (6)
- “Settle something for us: what’s the worst thing a guy can order at a bar?”
- “You look like the responsible one in your group. Am I right, or are you the bad influence?”
- “I’ve got to get back to my friends in a second, but quick question...” (A false time constraint lowers her guard because she knows you aren’t staying forever.)
- “You have the face of someone who just won an argument. What was it about?”
- Once you have her name, a name game: “Jen? Okay. J, jumps around. E, extremely nerdy. N, needs to stop following me.” Then have her do yours.
- “What did you want to be when you were seven?” A good transition question that gets her investing.
Rizz lines over text (6)
Text lines should be prompts she can play with, not compliments she has to answer politely.
- “Settle a debate: pineapple on pizza, yes or no? Choose carefully, this decides everything.”
- “Rule one of the question game: no boring questions. Rule two: you go second. Ready?”
- “You’ve gone quiet. I’ll assume you’re writing me a poem.”
- “Scale of one to ten, how likely are you to cheat at mini golf? Asking for scheduling reasons.”
- “I’ve decided you’re the bad influence. Prove me wrong Thursday at 8.”
- “Favorite ice cream. Go. Wrong answers will be judged.”

How to Deliver Rizz Pickup Lines: Five Steps
Delivery is where rizz pickup lines live or die. Here is the method, built from how the community structures the first minute of a set.
- Get in state before you open. Don’t open cold from your head. RSD and David Wygant both teach warm-up games played with a wingman. In the imitation game you order each other to “imitate a rhinoceros” until you both crack up. Free association works too: riff on one word without judging what comes out. You want to already be talking and laughing when you walk over.
- Use leaving body language. Turn your shoulders slightly away, as if you might go back to your friends at any moment. Add a false time constraint. This lowers her guard and signals you aren’t needy.
- Say it slower than feels natural, and smirk. Rushed lines sound apologetic. Pause before the punchline. For corny lines, own the cringe out loud: “That was awful. I’m proud of it.”
- Read her reaction. Her first response tells you what to do next. See the table below.
- Transition within thirty seconds. Never stack line after line. Move into cocky-funny banter, a question about her, or a game. A good opener gets you through the door. After that you should already be talking about something other than the line.
| Her reaction | What it means | Your next move |
|---|---|---|
| Laughs, groans, fires back a joke | She’s playing. That’s an IOI (indicator of interest). | Accept her joke, twist it, throw it back. |
| Polite smile, short answer | Neutral. Not hooked yet. | Ask an opinion question (line 13 or 14) to get her talking. |
| Turns to friends, closed body language | An IBI (indicator of disinterest), or her friends are pulling her back. | Open the friends too, or leave warmly. |
| Clear “not interested” | It’s a no. | Smile, say “fair enough, have a good night,” and go. No second attempt. |
Reading these signals is a skill of its own. See how to read IOIs and test interest.
The banter engine: Accept, Justify, Repeat
David DeAngelo borrowed a technique from improv training called Accept, Justify, Repeat (AJR). You toss out a “gift”, maybe a ridiculous claim or some celebrity gossip. She accepts it, adds her own twist and throws it back. You twist it further. If she plays, the conversation turns into what he calls a fun, sexually charged creative process. If she blocks every gift, she’s either testing you or she’s simply not fun, and either way you know where you stand.
Turning Corny Pickup Lines Into a Conversation Game
This is where most guys miss the point. A cheesy line can be more than an opener: it can be the material for a game. The community teaches conversation games because plain getting-to-know-you talk is boring. A game makes her a co-creator rather than someone being interviewed.
The line game (for groups)
DeAngelo teaches a group game that turns rizz pickup lines into a team sport. Everyone at the table writes the cheesiest pickup line they can, then the group nominates someone to deliver it. You’ll look foolish, and that’s the point. Group games lower social pressure because nobody reads them as a pickup attempt, and you become the guy who made the night fun. More of his material is in our David DeAngelo overview.
Light back-and-forth games (one-on-one)
- Favorites: Trade fast favorite-X questions (ice cream, song, worst movie) with no deep follow-up. DeAngelo adds a twist: when she says blue is her favorite color, tell her “No, it’s not. It’s red.”
- Scale of one to ten: “On a scale of one to ten, how much do you like karaoke?” It collects information without sounding like an interview.
- Name game: The acrostic tease from line 17, then make her do yours. It tests whether she can tease you back.
The question game (one-on-one, later)
Mystery and DeAngelo both treat the question game as default comfort material. The rules: no repeating questions, no boring questions, take turns, answer honestly. A common opening question is “How many boyfriends have you had?” Questions can grow more personal as rapport builds. Two firm rules:
- Only play it one-on-one. In a group, her friends play off each other and lock you out.
- If she doesn’t want to play, drop it. DeAngelo is blunt about this: it’s a routine, nothing more. Cut it and move to a story.
Mystery uses the game as a platform for a playful kiss question, “Shh, you talk a lot. Would you like to kiss me?” It comes only after she has been re-starting the conversation herself, and that re-starting is a strong IOI. If her answer is anything other than an enthusiastic yes, keep talking and let comfort build. Timing and reading her are covered in our first kiss tips.

Sample Interaction: From a Bad Line to a Real Conversation
Illustration only. A Thursday bar, two women at a high table, you and a friend nearby.
You (half turned toward your friend): “Quick one, I’ve got to get back to him in a second. I have a pickup line ready, but I’m told it’s the worst one in the building. Want to hear it, or should I spare you?”
Her: “Oh no. Go on.”
You: “Are you a museum? Because I’d stay until security asks me to leave.”
Her (laughing): “That’s so bad.”
You: “On a scale of one to ten?”
Her: “A three. Generous.”
You: “A three’s a pass where I’m from. Your friend looks like she’d give it a seven. She’s clearly the nice one. You’re the bad influence.”
Her friend: “She is the bad influence.”
You: “Knew it. Okay, bad influence, what did you want to be when you were seven?”
Notice the structure. The line lasts about five seconds. The scale-of-ten question gets her invested. The bad-influence tease is cocky-funny and brings the friend in instead of shutting her out. The seven-year-old question moves the talk to her. From there you build rapport, then suggest moving somewhere quieter only if she’s showing clear interest. If she keeps re-starting the conversation and turning toward you, you’re in comfort. If she drifts back to her friend, enjoy the moment and move on.
Common Mistakes With Rizz Pickup Lines (and the Fixes)
1. Treating the line as a substitute for inner game
Teachers warn about this one more than any other. Hunting for the perfect line is a way of avoiding the fear of approaching. Fix: Go out with three average lines and a goal of ten approaches. Volume teaches delivery, and delivery is what makes rizz pickup lines work.
2. Opening with dirty lines
Dirty lines show up all over the internet, and they almost always skip the attraction and comfort stages. DeAngelo makes a related point about compliments that focus on her body: there’s a time and place for that, and it usually isn’t the first minute. Fix: Keep openers playful. Sexual tension should build gradually as she shows interest, not get thrown at a stranger.
3. Waiting for her approval
Watching her face after the line, desperate for a laugh, is supplication: handing her the power by needing her validation. It’s a classic symptom of nice guy syndrome. Fix: Amuse yourself first. If the line bombs, laugh at it yourself and carry on.
4. Running a list
Three lines in a row turns a playful opener into a routine. Fix: One line, then transition. Your next sentence should be about her or the venue.
5. Running the question game in a group
Fix: Use the line game or favorites with groups. Save the question game for when you’re one-on-one with her.
6. Never escalating
Some guys get so good at banter that they become the funny friend. The structure needs a physical and emotional step after attraction, or you drift into the friend zone. Fix: Use the rapport the game builds as a platform. Light kino (casual touch, like a hand on her arm when she laughs) should follow her signals. If she leans away, you’ve gone too fast. See getting out of the friend zone.
7. Pushing past a no
A clear no, or obvious disinterest, ends the interaction. There’s no clever recovery line for it, and trying one makes you the guy her friends warn her about. Fix: Leave warmly. Your frame stays intact because the outcome never owned you.
Rizz pickup lines are a fun, low-stakes way to open, and corny ones are often the easiest because the self-awareness does the work. Treat them as the doorway. Inner game gets you to walk through it, cocky-funny banter and conversation games keep you there, and her interest sets the pace from that point on. Questions men ask
FAQ
What's the best pick up line for a girl?
The best line fits the moment and is delivered without neediness. A self-aware corny line works well, for example: 'I have a terrible pickup line ready. Want to hear it, or should I spare us both?' It shows humor and confidence, and it gives her an easy way to play along. Any line beats silence, but the line only buys you about ten seconds. Use them to move into teasing or a question about her.
What are some flirty phrases?
Strong flirty phrases are cocky-funny statements that tease her without insulting her. Examples: 'Careful, you're smiling, people will think we're friends,' or 'You look like you'd cheat at board games.' They work because they create playful tension and push-pull instead of handing her a compliment. Say them with a smile and relaxed tonality. If she laughs and fires back, keep the banter going.
How can I impress my crush by line?
Don't try to impress her. Try to entertain her. A line built to impress reads as seeking approval, and that is exactly what kills attraction. Pick a light, playful line, say it like you don't care whether it lands, then ask her something interesting. 'What did you want to be when you were seven?' works well. Her investment in the conversation does more than any clever line, so give her room to talk.
What are some funny flirty jokes?
The funniest flirty jokes make fun of the joke itself. Try 'Do you have a map? I keep getting lost in... no, I can't finish that one, even I have standards.' Or rate your own line out of ten before you say it. Self-aware humor shows you are comfortable in your own skin, and that matters more than the joke. Pair it with a smirk and drop it the moment she gives you something better to talk about.
Do rizz pickup lines work over text?
They work best over text as playful prompts, not as compliments. A favorites challenge does well ('Favorite ice cream, go, wrong answers will be judged'), as does a mock accusation ('I've decided you're the bad influence'). Each one gives her something to play with. Keep the messages short, don't double-text when she goes quiet, and use the energy to set up a meeting rather than texting forever.
